SOCCER Overview Make links between that lesson, & assignment Creativity In notes In thinking In planning Study Techniques: Knowing HOW to Study Effectively Emotions Feel the fear… And do it anyway! Communicate Clearly Effectively In correct format Review Learning logs & reflective journals

Study Techniques Do you know how to study effectively? Can you manage your time? Are your notes useful & memorable? Can you read effectively? Can you revise for & pass exams?

Overview Why are you taking this degree? Where are you going? How is the degree put together? How will it help your job application? Do you ‘overview’ a module before you start? Do you ’overview’ a book before you read?

Creativity If you just give back to tutors what they gave you, you will get an average grade at best. Be creative!! How creative are you in your studies? Do you make pattern notes? Do you brainstorm?

Communicate We need to communicate clearly – and in the correct format Do you write little and often? Do you enjoy your writing? Do you know the difference between an essay & a report?

Emotions Studying can make you angry, excited, happy, sad – fearful How do you deal with your emotions? Tips: I am prepared I can handle it! I am responsible for my learning…

Review! Review! Review! If we do not review & revise we lose 98% of information in 3 weeks! Do you revise your notes? Do you complete a study journal or learning log? Do you reflect on what you have learned - every day, week, month?

So – what have you learned? Review your notes: Do you have good study techniques? Do you overview? How creative are you? Can you write convincing essays? How do you feel about being a student? Do you review?
