Introduction Vietnam is entering the cycle of developing 10- year Socio-economic Development Strategy and 5-year socio-economic development plan The Government Office has required MOH: To report on 10-year health strategy (2001 – 2010) implementation To develop proposal on 10-year health strategy (2011 – 2020); and To develop proposal on 5-year Health plan (2011 – 2015)

The State increases investment, development of public hospitals, innovating operational and financial mechanism of PHs for a dynamic, efficient performance. Promoting social mobilization, building and setting up new joint-stock, join-venture hospitals, private clinics and hospitals

System objectives in 5-year health plan ( ) (Cont.) Goal: To develop the Vietnamese health system in the socialist-oriented market mechanism, ensuring the equity, efficiency and developing health care services at a level which is the same as other countries in the region, ensuring the quality health care access for all people, reducing epidemic disease morbidity and mortality rate, containing the outbreaks of big epidemics, promoting health, increasing life expectancy, and developing the generation. This goal is translated into big objectives (general objectives), and then specific objectives by 6 key areas of the sector
