and preparation for, higher education. Providing access to, and preparation for, higher education. Nella Quasnitschka Office of Early College Programs, University of Connecticut

UConn Early College Experience (est. 1955) UConn Early College Experience (ECE) is the oldest concurrent enrollment program in the Nation, celebrating 63 years of community engagement. UConn ECE allows motivated high school students to take UConn courses at their high schools for both high school and college credit. Every course taken through UConn ECE is equivalent to the same course at the University of Connecticut.

National Perspective UConn ECE is a model of national excellence with the longest running concurrent enrollment program in the U.S. UConn was a founding member of the national accreditation association, the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) Reaccredited in 2014 http://www.nacep.org/

The UConn Early College Experience Community UConn ECE Program Staff High Schools Students & Families UConn Faculty Coordinators UCONN The UConn Early College Experience Community UConn includes many different offices who support our program and its operations UConn Faculty Coordinators are the discipline specific UConn Faculty members who oversee the instructors who teach the courses in the high school and ensure course comparability UConn ECE Program Staff consists of myself and 7 other full time employees who manage all program logistics and are here for you for anything you may need. High Schools are our most important advocate for the program. The principal Site Representative who serves as the liaison between the high school and UConn. Library Media Specialist who would have access to UConn’s Libraries’ electronic resources and be able assist students taking courses with any course related research. Instructors Students & Families are the ones that we are here to provide an early college experience to!

Instructors High School instructors are certified by the specific UConn department based on academic standards. Certified as University of Connecticut adjunct faculty members Lending privileges at all UConn libraries Direct partnership with UConn faculty from their department Professional development opportunities where instructors share knowledge, strategies, and techniques Courses through UConn ECE are taught by University certified high school instructors who serve as adjunct faculty members and receive many of the academic privileges granted to UConn faculty. In order to become certified, an instructor must meet the requirements set by the UConn and NACEP. Applicants must be currently employed at either a UConn ECE partner high school or interested in starting the program at his/her high school. The deadline to submit certification applications for the 2018-2019 academic year is January 31, 2018. **All discipline-specific certification requirements can be found on the UConn ECE website at www.ece.uconn.edu.

Students Receive highly transferable college credit An understanding of college course requirements Access to all University of Connecticut library resources Competitive edge in the college admissions process Flexibility with course schedule when in college Scholarship opportunities as seniors Save time & money Student are able to start their college career while still in HS and receive highly transferable college credit. A study was done by the research and development team on Concurrent enrollment transfer which found UConn ECE credits transfer 87% of the time. Students will transition from high school to college knowing they are prepared for the academic work that lies ahead. They can recognize a college syllabus and know the academic requirements of a college course. Students will receive an official UConn transcript which will make them a competitive applicant during the admissions process. Save time! Attending college with credits allows students the opportunity to study abroad, do an internship, community service, or double major. Some students may even have the opportunity to graduate in 3 years depending on the number of ECE credits earned while still in HS. Mention AP Courses

UConn ECE offers a significant financial savings in paying for college! 3-Credit Course UConn On-Campus $125 $2,048 ECE = $20 processing fee plus $35/credit UConn = $548 in fees plus $500/credit FERPA Waiver and be an authorized user The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act Full-year and fall course bills are due November 22. Spring course bills are due January 8
