Our Course Choice Process

The 8 subjects pupils choose in S3 will allow them to continue studying 7 of them at National level in S4.

Everyone has to take: English Maths French, German or Languages for Life and Work (not offered as an option in S4). Languages for Life and Work is an option for pupils who, without doubt, do not intend to study a language beyond S3.

LANGUAGES FOR LIFE AND WORK Modern Languages for Life and Work Awards develop learners’ language and employability skills, through studying one or two modern languages in practical and relevant contexts for life and work. The focus is on employability. The course comprises 2 units which focus on practical employability skills such as interview skills, CV writing, searching for jobs. Assessment is naturally occurring and pupils can be assessed during day-to-day learning and teaching.

32 blocks a week 4 blocks for English and Maths 3 blocks for the other 6 subjects 2 core blocks of Physical Education 1 core block of Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies 1 core block of Personal and Social Education 2 core blocks of Enhancement (Volunteering, Princess Trust Award, Fabric and Fashion, School of Rugby, School of Football and Design Engineering Compute).
