Timed Assessments There is NO more extended time on any of the state or national exams. All question types, including writing exams, are strictly timed.

Which Assessments to Take Students will only take the assessment for the grade in which they are currently showing in Infinite Campus. This applies to ALL state assessments. However the student is marked in IC dictates which assessment they take at the time. KDE:OAA:DSR: 2/7/2013

If a school has information which contradicts the information in this file, such as a student has already met the benchmarks, then the school will be able to give this information to KDE during Data Review. Please keep a record of such scores on file in the district in case of an audit. College Ready tab: KDE has scores for these students which meet or exceed the benchmarks. This may have occurred on the ACT State administration (grade 11), a National ACT administration or a COMPASS test from KDE or KCTCS. If the school has no record of a student meeting the benchmark, please contact OAA for details. Not College Ready tab: KDE does not have a score meeting the benchmark for either/all of these areas: English, Reading or Mathematics. The school may have more updated information regarding current scores, since the KDE files were from June 2012. Unknown tab: KDE does not have either ACT or COMPASS scores for these students. Plan ACT Plan serves as the midpoint measure of academic progress in ACT's College and Career Readiness System.

ACT The ACT is the capstone of our College and Career Readiness System. The test uses the same score scale as ACT Explore and ACT Plan, making the system an effective tool to monitor academic progress and student growth. 21 states currently administer the ACT statewide

ACT Overview English Mathematics Reading Science Optional Writing Test   Content English 75 questions 45 minutes Measures standard written English and rhetorical skills. Mathematics 60 questions 60 minutes Measures mathematical skills students have typically acquired in courses taken up to the beginning of grade 12. Reading 40 questions 35 minutes Measures reading comprehension. Science Measures the interpretation, analysis, evaluation, reasoning, and problem-solving skills required in the natural sciences. Optional Writing Test 1 prompt 30 minutes Measures writing skills emphasized in high school English classes and in entry-level college composition courses.

College Placement Test 2012 February DAC Meetings College Ready College Entrance Exam ACT Reading = 20 English = 18 Mathematics = 19 COMPASS Reading = 85 English (Writing Skills) = 74 Mathematics = 36 College Placement Test KYOTE’s Writing assessment is more like the K-PREP On-Demand Writing rather than the English portion of the ACT. Therefore, it is not likely that this will count in CCR. A decision has not been finalized. COMPASS Writing Skills more closely aligns with the English portion of the ACT (grammar and syntax). On-Demand This is the only K-PREP (Kentucky Performance Rating of Educational Progress) exam given at the high school level. Testing is to be 5 consecutive days during the last 14 instructional days of the district calendar.

Who Takes the K-PREP? Required to Test Not Required to Test Students in grades 3-8 and 10-11, including those with disabilities Students who are retained Students who move during testing Students with a minor medical emergency EL students in their first year are required to attempt mathematics and science (four multiple-choice or one extended response). EL students in their second year and later participate in all content areas. Students in the Alternate K-PREP Student’s skipped grade Foreign Exchange students Students with medical or extraordinary circumstances exemptions Students test based upon the grade enrolled in Infinite Campus on the first day of testing. Preparatory Students Student who has completed two career and technical education credits in a preparatory program and is enrolled in the third credit course(s) in the same career pathway. What If… A student is enrolled in welding for 2 credits and takes nursing for another credit. Is this student considered a Preparatory Student? What If… A student is enrolled in welding for 2 credits and changes to nursing for another credit. Is this student considered a Preparatory Student? ASVAB Part of CCRR, the ASVAB assesses academic ability and predicts success in a wide variety of careers. The Armed Forces Qualification Test or AFQT is the score computed from these four components of the ASVAB —Word Knowledge (WK), Arithmetic Reasoning (AR), Paragraph Comprehension (PC) and Mathematics Knowledge (MK). To be considered Career Ready, students must score at or above the 50th percentile. Important considerations: 1) When students don’t meet benchmark for career readiness, schools need to be selective when deciding/choosing students to be re-tested. Students who score in the low category often won’t improve their scores by retesting. The decision to retest should be based upon which students would benefit most. 2) Schools sometimes request multiple test dates. So far, this has not become a major problem, so this request is presently being supported to the extent that it is possible. 3) The only accommodation allowed for students with special needs is “extended time”. A student may be allowed only 30 minutes extra. No other accommodation is permitted. KDE:OAA:DSR 2/21/2013

AP Advanced Placement Courses are open to all students grades 9-12 depending on prerequisites. SCHS has an open door policy for AP courses SCHS has been involved in the National Math and Science Initiative for the past five years

Gap Additional State accountability will be structured around Gap reduction. While each of the above categories is equal in accountability value, a low Gap score will catch the state’s ire and will require action faster than other trailing areas. KY schools are required to close their individual Gap group gaps by 50% within 5 years. This school year our entire score is based on NG Learning (the above 5 categories equally weighted at 20%) Next school year (2012-2013) NG L accounts for 77% and NG Instructional Programs and Support (Program Reviews) will account for 23%. Pulling RTI out of electives will limit our Program Review Score District and best practice RTI models require that Tier 2 instruction is at least 3 days a week for a minimum of 30 minutes, tier 4 instruction is 3-4 days a week for 30-40 minutes a day. Our current Friday plan does not meet this standard but the daily plan will.
