Too Difficult for God? 27 “I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me? (Jer 32:27) He is asking this question of Israel, but it is certainly one that we must consider as well.

Too Difficult for God? The Answer to the Question Theologically. Nothing is too difficult for God.

Too Difficult for God? Practically. 18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. (Heb 6:18)

Too Difficult for God? 13 … For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; (James 1:13) 13 “He cannot deny himself.” (2 Tim 2:13) These passages do not take away God’s omnipotence. Rather they teach that He is only limited by His own perfection. No good thing is too difficult for our Lord, and no evil thing is too strong to overpower Him.

Too Difficult for God? Consider some impossible situations. God appeared to Sarah when she was ninety years old and told her she was going to have a baby. 14 “Is any thing too hard for the LORD?...” (Gen. 18:14a) A few years later the Lord told Sarah’s husband, Abraham, to offer Isaac on the altar of sacrifice.

Too Difficult for God? 19 Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead (Heb 11:19). When Joshua led the army of Israel to victory over the Amorites, darkness approached before his job was done. (Josh. 10:12-13)

Too Difficult for God? What about Jesus? 21 “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” (John 11:21) Have you settled in your heart the question of God’s ability?

Too Difficult for God? The Application of the Question Sometimes our doubt centers around our own sinfulness of heart. “Alas! and did my Savior bleed? And did my Sovereign die? Would He devote that sacred head For such a worm as I?” -- Isaac Watts

Too Difficult for God? If you are having trouble believing that God could forgive you...take your eyes off your sins and put them on Christ. Temptation is another area in which you may doubt your Lord’s might. 27 “I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me? (Jer 32:27)

Too Difficult for God? Consider every area in your life. A broken marriage restored. A terminal disease? Your prayers? The right job?

Too Difficult for God? The Admonitions from the Question This question admonishes us in at least two ways. It urges us to seize our seemingly hopeless situations as wonderful opportunities to trust our Lord. Jeremiah 32:27 encourages us to act on our faith.

Too Difficult for God? Conclusion What is your impossible situation? What is the most difficult thing in life you need God to accomplish for you? “Is it too difficult for you to trust in an Almighty God?” The real weakness lies not in our Father but in our faith.
