Poultry Immune system (kekebalan tubuh unggas) drh. Bambang Ariyadi, MP. Ph.D

Definition Immunology is the study of the immune system. The immune system is a system of cells, tissues and their soluble products that recognizes, attacks and destroys entities that could endanger the health of an individual. The immune system can be classified into subsystems: the innate immune system ; the adaptive immune system.

Organ of the immune system Primary Lymphoid Organs Thymus gland T-cell system  cell-mediated immunity Bursa of Fabricius B-cell system  humoral immunity Bone marrow Precursor blood cells Yolk sac Maternal immunity Secondary / Peripheral lymphoid tissue Harderian gland Caecal tonsilles Spleen GALT

Organ of the immune system

The primary lymphoid organs The original anatomic site of differentiation of the germinal immune cells into two types of lymphocytes, B-cells and T-cells. This differentiation is made in the bursa of Fabricius and in the thymus due to the action of hormonal secretions originating from the same organs (B-cells from the bursa of Fabricius and Tcells from the thymus).

The secondary lymphoid organs Provide local storage areas for lymphocytes and are the differentiation sites for other immune cells such as granulocytes, monocytes and the killer (K) and natural killer (NK) cells which are manufactured in the bone marrow. These immune cells play an immune defence role which is generally non-specific, although the T-cells or antibodies can modify this role in specific ways.

The Immune system Innate immune system Adaptive immune system (natural or native immune system ) Is a front line of defense providing an immediate, but non-specific response Adaptive immune system (acquired or specific immunity) Has improved recognition of the pathogens and retains specific response in the form of immunological memory.
