Region 6 Young Professionals Sean Collison – R6 YP Chair 11/7/2018

IEEE Young Professionals Affinity Group YP Affinity Group is an international community of enthusiastic, dynamic, and innovative IEEE members and volunteers. Benefits Provides Professional Networking to early-career IEEE Members. Helps YP’s evaluate their career goals. Helps YP’s polish their professional image Creates building blocks for a lifelong and diverse professional network. 11/7/2018

IEEE Young Professionals Affinity Group Automatically included in Affinity Group for 15 years after first professional degree (e.g. Bachelors), can opt-in after that. No extra cost to be a member of the YP Affinity Group. 11/7/2018

Current Plans Engage YP Chairs in each Section Should host at least 2 meetups / events each year to retain Affinity Group. I will start up regular meetings w/ YP Chairs to drive cross section collaboration. If you don’t have YP Affinity Group in your section, you can easily create one. LA Section just submitted a petition to create a YP Affinity Group. Feel free to ping me if you need details on how to submit a petition for creating a YP Affinity Group. 11/7/2018

Current Plans (cont.) We would like to host more YP meetups at major conferences. We are looking for a major Conference in 2016 to host a flagship event. 2015 Event was at the International Microwave Symposium in Phoenix, AZ. We get MGA funds ($1000) to help sponsor the flagship event. Budget for the year $5,000. We are currently sponsoring a YP hackathon in The Bay Area for $500. 11/7/2018
