2016 LGU ROADSHOW

2016 LGU Roadshow Purpose: to present the findings of the 2nd PH-EITI Country Report gather feedback from the stakeholders on the report findings discuss extractive industry related issues, policy gaps and plans to address the gaps

2016 LGU Roadshow Total Participants: 580 stakeholders from LGUs, national/regional government agencies, companies operating in the area, civil society organizations, IP communities and media partners Larger than the 2015 LGU roadshows Roadshows were all well-attended and well-covered by media compared to last year's roadshows, despite limited resources

Outcomes The 2nd PH-EITI Country Report findings and recommendations were communicated to target stakeholders Stakeholders are informed on: DBM’s policy development on the transfer of LGU shares in the national wealth What is SDMP and how it is developed at the local level How the environment is governed and how it is monitored by the MMTs and LGUs Mining Development Framework BLGF’s Environment and Natural Resource Data Management Tool, online reporting system, was introduced to local treasurers and accountants

Outcomes Through workshops on 1) Collection/Management of Revenues from Extractives at the Local Level, and 2) Governance of the Extractive Industry, the following were gathered from the participants which will be included in the 3rd PH-EITI Country Report: Priority issues that the government will commit to act upon Recommendations collectively formulated by the sectors to address the identified issues The event also served as a platform to formulate and agree on ways to move forward through meaningful discussion with local stakeholders.
