PBIS Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Garden City School has adopted a school wide behavior plan called Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). This plan is designed to encourage a positive climate of cooperation, honesty, academic excellence, respect and safety at Garden City. PBIS sets clear expectations for student behavior in the classroom, and in shared areas such as the library, gym, cafeteria, and the recess yard.

READING In third grade, reading instruction is at the individual student’s level through one-on-one or small group instruction. Students are also required to read at least 20 minutes every night. All students are required to read twenty-five chapter books during the school year. Children need to read regularly in order to improve their comprehension skills and fluency/reading rate.

WRITING This year we will express our thoughts and feeling through our writing. Third grade strives to incorporate writing across the curriculum in all subject areas. Examples: Reports, Special Projects, PowerPoint’s, etc. Students will be writing friendly letters to there friends in other classes at Garden City School through the Wee-Deliver program. We will use the six traits writing model and work on the process of writing including brainstorming, organization, rough draft, editing, revising, and peer feed back.
