Road to Revolution Beginning in the 1760s American colonists grew increasingly unhappy with British rule.

Road to Revolution First meeting of Continental Congress occurs in 1774, second in 1775. Colonists met to discus independence from Britain amidst rising tensions. Some wanted to “extend the olive branch” and appease Britain, others like Thomas Paine did not. Paine wrote Common Sense - A 47 page pamphlet making a case for independence from Great Britain. It was what a lot of people were feeling and it was the first in a line of documents leading to the Declaration of Independence.
