What is the TOEIC® Listening & Reading Test? Comes from the same organisation in the USA as the TOEFL-Test Tests listening and reading comprehension in work-related situations – receptive skills Up to C1-level CEFR (990 points maximum ) Well-known among employers - particularly suitable for people entering the job market Dr. Angela Beverley-Gilbertson, Institut für Fremdsprachen: Angela.Beverley-Gilbertson@Reutlingen-University.DE

What is special about this test? An independent external confirmation of language skills, e.g. for degree programmes without their own English courses Pilot test is free of charge. If further tests are offered later, there will be a charge of approx. €100 per candidate. What does the test look like? How can I prepare for the test? No time to take an English course! You can only get to know the test format – and practise! Lots of material online, eg: https://www.ets.org/toeic/test_takers/listening_reading/prepare/products See also handout with links! Books have been ordered and can be borrowed from the IfF. How do I sign up? Online from 9 May 9:00 am: https://www.reutlingen-university.de/en/international/foreign-languages/english-language-courses/ ONLY 25 places – first come, first served! If you change your mind and wish to withdraw, please inform the IfF. Your name will be removed from the list so someone else can take your place. What do I have to do on the day of the test? Bring your ID card, non-Germans should also bring their passport (documents with photos and signatures) Bring pencils (HB oder B), eraser, sharpener with you. No ballpoint pens or mechanical pencils! Nothing else on the desk! No mobile phones, smart watches, dictionaries… No drinks / snacks / lucky charms… Answer all questions – incorrect answers will not be penalised. What happens after the test? Papers are graded centrally in Berlin Results generally available after 7 working days. IfF will inform you when the results arrive. Candidates receive an Official Score Report with separate results for each part together with an explanatory chart.
