Presentation transcript:

Miguel Miguel’s teachers tell him that his English is getting better, but every time he tries to talk to the other students they make fun of the way he talks. Neither of Miguel’s parents speak English and they are so proud that he is learning English. Miguel wishes his English was better and maybe then the other students would like him. Why is it not ok for other students to make fun of the way Miguel talks? Should Miguel tell his parents or teachers about the other students teasing him? Why or why not?

Bullying: Mean Words & Teasing Mean Words & Teasing are Never Ok. Teasing students about their ethnicity is a form of Racism. If you ever feel you are being Bullied, You should SHARE with Parents, Teachers, other Adults and Students.

Scott Scott is one of the smartest students in the school and some of the other students are always calling him names. Even though Scott’s parents are always telling him how proud they are of him for making good grades; Scott just wants to be liked by the other students. How would this make you feel if you were Scott? What would you do about the bullying if you were Scott?

Bullying: Name Calling & Teasing ALONE SAD FRUSTRATED Anger CONFUSED If you were Scott you may feel any of these emotions or perhaps a combination of these emotions. Bullies Bully for many reasons, but Remember it is not your fault and you do not have to be a Victim. It is Always helpful to talk to Someone if you feel any of these emotions or if you feel that you are being Bullied.

Kim Kim is a Freshman in High School and she had heard that sometimes going from Junior High to High School could be difficult, but all the teasing and name calling is causing her to want to be alone. Kim often wonders… “Why do they make fun of me? Is it because I am not like them? Is it because I wear glasses?...I just want to be Alone.

Bullying: Teasing & Name Calling Effects of Bullying : Poor Grades Lower Self-Esteem Isolation Depression & Anxiety Health Problems

Crissy Crissy is the new girl at school. She just moved to Tennessee from Texas and is yet to make any friends. Crissy overheard a rumor about her that was not true and she believes that is why no one likes her. Crissy is so frustrated and wonders why anyone would say things about her that are not true…

Bullying: Rumors Bottom-line: Rumors are to Hurt Someone. People spread rumors for many reasons. Here is a list of some common reasons rumors are started: …for Attention. …out of Boredom. …to be part of a group. …to break up friendships. …to make someone less popular. Bottom-line: Rumors are to Hurt Someone. The only difference between Rumors and Teasing is that Spreading Rumors is a form of Bullying done behind someone’s back, while Teasing is Bullying to someone’s face.
