Fascism Uses a dictator to control the government and all social groups Against capitalism, the upper middle and upper classes Uses emotion to rule over ration Passionately against Communism and Democracy Promises to let people keep their personal property while removing the class system Extremely Nationalistic to a point where anyone that is against any portion of government control is labelled as “an enemy of the state” Used Social Darwinism and events from the Berlin Conference, Scramble for Africa and WWI as proof that some cultures should be valued above others Created by Italy’s Benito Mussolini and expanded by Germany’s Adolf Hitler to include Anti-Semitism The threat of Communism spreading after Vladimir Lenin and the Bolshevik’s took control of Russia, gives rise to the German Socialist Worker’s Party (NAZI)
The Rise of the German National Socialist Worker’s Party 1918 – Corporal Adolf Hitler is discharged from military service 1919 – Socialism and Communism start to overtake many European nations 1923 – Hitler and several former friends attempt to kill Kaiser Hindenburg but fail and sentenced to time in jail 1925 – In jail, Hitler writes Mein Kampf and meets other cell mates that talk of creating a political party to overthrown the Kaiser, after 9 months he is released 1927 – the NAZI party grows to 25,000, Hitler begins to create the Sturm Abteilung known as Stormtroopers or “brown shirts”, the Hitler Youth and the early days of the Schutzstaffel 1929 – the NAZI party grows to 100,000 and wins their first seats in the Reichstag 1932 – Hitler runs for Chancellor (vice president) of Germany and wins, NAZI politicians wins 37% of all seats in the Reichstag
Nazification of Germany 1933 - 1936 1933 – Hitler secretly orders the Reichstag burned, he also secretly creates Dachau Camp for the housing of political dissidents, he next orders Hindenburg to put Germany under police/military order for protection, books begin to be burned to protect the minds of the youth 1934 – the SA military has grown to over 2,500,000. Hitler carries out the “Night of the Long Knives”, the Kaiser dies and Hitler declares himself Kaiser and Chancellor at the same time 1935 – Hitler creates the Nuremberg Laws and allows Jews to leave Germany unharmed 1936 – Berlin hosts the Olympics to convince the world that Hitler is peaceful and has no intention of hurting any other nation, Germany builds state of the art sports facilities and declares that only Aryans will win the games
Nazification of Europe 1937 - 1939 1937 After convincing most of the world that he means no harm by how peaceful the Olympics were, Hitler meets with world leaders to reassure them that Germany is not building an army and does not want to take any lands 1938 Hitler continues to assure the world that he will not over take any nation or harm any persons - in March, Hitler claims that all lands that have a German speaking region are now a part of Germany, Austria is now a part of Germany In September, Hitler takes Czechoslovakia In November, Hitler orders the “Kristallnacht” or Night of the Broken Glass, anyone who is in Germany and Jewish by birth, religion or culture must wear a yellow star of David on their clothing to identify themselves 1939 Hitler signs a secret pact with Stalin, Mussolini, Hirohito to “prevent war and establish peace” - On September 1st, Hitler and Stalin invade Poland officially starting WWII
