Units of Study Living Organisms Ecosystems and Populations Earth’s Changing Surface Earth’s Waters Introduction to Matter

Living Organisms What does it mean to be alive? What is necessary for life?

Ecosystems and Populations How connected are all living things? How do living things change? Where does energy go?

Earth’s Changing Surface How are Earth, land, air and water, related? How does the Earth change? How does where we live affect how we live? What is the impact on the Earth?

Earth’s Waters What factors contribute to the view that our usable fresh water supply is in danger of running out? How are parts of Earth (land, air, and water) related? What is my impact on the world? If there is so much water on Earth, why do I have to conserve?

Introduction to Matter What makes an object useful? Why are objects valuable to people? What makes some objects valuable for some people but not others? What makes up our world? How is energy related to changes of matter? What causes change in our physical world? What patterns occur when matter changes?

Experimental Design How can I investigate my ideas? How can I support/defend my scientific explanation? http://www.elcslpl.org/science-experiments-for-kids-11.jpg
