Welcome to The South River Music Boosters

Welcome to the South River Music Boosters! Orchestra Concert and Specialty Bands Marching Band Jazz Band Color Guard Chorus and Specialty Groups Tri-M All families with a student in any of the South River Music programs are automatically members of the South River Music Boosters No application, no membership fees required The Music Boosters support all of The south river high school music programs

The purpose of the South River Music Boosters is to enhance the music programs of the school through volunteer support and to supplement music program budgets through fundraising All funds raised go directly to music student activities and equipment The South River Music Boosters are a certified 501(c)(3) organization under the IRS Code All donations made to the organization are tax deductible

The Music Boosters provide financial, physical, logistical, and moral support to our students, such as…. Transportation of Students and Equipment to Events Purchase, Repair, and Upkeep of Orchestra and Band Instruments Band tournament registration fees Food Service for Students Scary Strings Transportation to Towson Hosting and feeding Towson’s orchestra for Scary Strings Playathon Guest Clinician fees Hospitality and meals for Playathon Clinicians Music Senior Recognition Banquet Senior awards and plaques Feeder concert support and decorations Chaperoning Events Spring Trip Planning and Financial Support Music Program Equipment Choral, Jazz, Orchestra, and Band Music Booster business requirements for tax preparation and account audits Supplementing BSO field trip and Spring trip funds as required Fundraising ….and much more!

The Music Boosters need your help to accomplish our ambitious goals for supporting all of our students Volunteers are needed for every music activity of the year and are solicited through Sign Up Genius. Watch your email inbox for a Sign Up Genius request and help as you are able

Financial support is provided through Fundraising and Student Activity Fees Boosters strive to minimize student activity fees We rely heavily on fundraising to keep our music program strong while keeping family costs as low as possible We emphasize passive fundraising that is as transparent as possible, such as family nights at area restaurants and online shopping sites that give back a percentages of sales It truly takes a village to fund a music program!

General Fundraisers First fundraiser was completed in August working the Renaissance Festival raised ~$1,900 September restaurant fundraiser was held at Chipotle in Edgewater raised ~$290 Oct. restaurant fundraiser planned for All American Steakhouse on Oct. 15. Restaurant fundraiser nights will be planned monthly for the remainder of the school year South River Music Boosters are registered for Amazon Smile donations Use Amazon Smile website and designate South River Music Boosters. Booster receive donations which cost you nothing. Win-win!

Student Account Fundraisers Funds raised go directly into a student’s account Can be used for activity fees, uniform fees, field trip costs, or the Spring trip First individual fundraiser – Claire’s Gourmet Sale: 10/3/18 - 10/19/18 Merchandise pickup: 11/12/18 Earn ~$5/item sold Second individual fundraiser – Yankee Candle Sale: 10/22/18 – 11/9/18 Earn 40% of sale Third individual fundraiser – Mixed Bags Sale: early January

2018 South River Music Spring Trip DISNEY!! Due to the expense, South River Music only does Disney Spring trips once every 4 years Payments are made in monthly installments Individual fundraisers can be used to offset costs Trip tentatively scheduled for April 3-6 with details still beginning confirmed Chaperones will be needed for the trip to maintain a ratio of 1 chaperone per 5 students per AACPS requirements More information including trip dates and costs will be coming soon!

Volunteering – Day Trip Background Check Volunteers for day trips and activities must have a background check through AACPS Online Good for 2 years Free Log on to aacps.org On the dashboard, click on “Families” Click on the yellow sign which reads, “School Safety and Security” On the left side of the page, click on “Chaperone/Background Check” At the bottom of the page, click on “Apply for Background Check” Once you receive notice your background check is complete, send a message to southrivermusic@gmail.com letting us know the effective date

Volunteering – Overnight Background Check Volunteers for overnight trips must have the fingerprint supported background check through AACPS Make appointment for fingerprinting at the AACPS Board of Education Only required once $57 Log on to aacps.org On the dashboard, click on “Families” Click on the yellow sign which reads, “School Safety and Security” On the left side of the page, click on “Chaperone/Background Check” Follow instructions for fingerprint background check Will receive a blue Fingerprint Verification Card after completion of the background check
