Phillip II of Spain Declares war, wants to overthrow Elizabeth and put Mary Queen of Scotts on the throne

Spanish Armada 1587, Admiral Francis Drake, warns of the Spanish intent Armada hit by storm in the English Channel, lit on fire Elizabeth becomes far more powerful Spain defeated and never rises to great power again

Walter Raleigh and Humphrey Gilbert Half Brothers Want colonies Get permission from Elizabeth New England first attempt, doesn’t work, head back to England (Humphrey) but their ship disappears.
