Basic information cont.… INCA Goal The goal of the USAID’S INCA is to improve the nutritional status of women and children in selected undernourished and rural areas of Bhola, Lakshmipur and Noakhali districts. INCA Objectives The activity’s objective is to improve nutritional practices during the first thousand days of life. The objective will be achieved through two intermediate results in select Feed the Future rural areas: Improved knowledge of communities on proper nutritional requirements during the first thousand days of life Increased access to and use of health and nutrition services at community based health facilities

Working area: District Sub-district (Upazila) Bhola All sub-district Laxshipur 2, Ramgati & Kamalnagar Noakhali 2, Subarnachar & Hatiya

Result Framework Goal: Improved nutritional status of women and children in targeted vulnerable areas   Objective: Improved nutritional practices during the first thousand days of life   IR 1: Improved knowledge of communities on proper nutritional requirements during the first thousand days of life IR 2: Increased access to and use of health and nutrition services at targeted health facilities Sub IR 2.1: Increased coordination between community nutrition promoters and targeted health facilities Sub IR 1.1: Increased access to nutrition knowledge at community level Sub IR 2.2: Increased awareness of community about availability of health services at community level Sub IR 1.2: Increased dissemination of quality nutrition information from targeted health facilities Sub IR 1.3: Increased support to families through community nutrition support groups Sub IR 2.3: Increased capacity of health service providers and facilities in the community Cross-cutting issues Improved food security for the rural poor and reduced gender inequity

USAID’s INCA Partnership and Collaboration Community Based Health Care (CBHC), DGHS, MOHFW Institute of Public Health & Nutrition (IPHN), DGHS, MOHFW National Nutrition Services (NNS), DGHS, MOHFW MCRAH, MCH Service, DGFP, MOHFW USAID’s all partners in Bangladesh Alive & Thrive Health & Nutrition Services provider (GoB & NGOs) Signed MOU with NNS, IPHN and CBHC and taken approval from DGFP

Expected Improved nutrition practices Food and Food behavior Care practices Health Improved dietary practices during pregnancy Proper rest and care during pregnancy Regular and at least 4 antenatal visits during pregnancy Early initiation of breastfeeding, colostrum feeding and no pre-lacteal feeding Capacity building of health service providers in the Community Immunizations and micronutrient supplementation during pregnancy Exclusive Breast Feeding Proper care of infant and young children Birth at a health facility and/or conducted by skilled personnel Timely introduction of complementary food Hand washing Immunizations and required micronutrient supplementations for children Age specific minimum adequate diet according to WHO standards Safe food preparation and storage Timely treatment of diseases and de-worming Family Planning services and utilization
