Presentation transcript:

Impact of the new resource centre

Students have coped with mis- matched furniture and mixed spaces…

The LRC offers four times the study space as well as… Light Bright Fit for purpose More spacious Single purpose rooms Comfortable Clean Well-resourced

What do students want? My time at Sixth Form has been great, the teaching has been outstanding and all the other opportunities have been fantastic. The only problem is lack of study and social space, and I feel that it greatly impacts on a lot of students. Initially we were told that an extension would be complete by our second year, and we would be able to use it, however this has not happened due to lack of funding. This extension would improve Sixth Form life greatly, and the Sixth Form would be a much more study-appropriate environment, unlike the current situation.

Facilities the students want. Comfort: Coffee machine Vending Machine Microwave Water dispenser Sofas and soft seating Study: Computers Study tables Storage facilities (Lockers and shelves) Text books and reference books All textbooks gladly received.

But why do it? We already get good results…. Farmors School 16% Cirencester College 5% % students achieving AAB in 3 or more A levels in facilitating subjects (English, History, Geography, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Modern & Classic Languages, Maths and Further Maths): Balcarras: 10% KLB: 12%

So our academic students do well.. They would do well anywhere, wouldnt they? But what about those who are less academic? Average points score per entry: FarmorsCirencesterBalcarras Conclusion: Our ethos of independent study and support fosters success for all.

Impact of Better facilities? Ethos and expectations wont change. Easier for students to study and take pride in their environment. Better resources Everything in one place. More unity between the year groups. More space!

We value your thoughts too Parents have commented on…. I know he thoroughly enjoyed his time at Farmors and I am sure he will always have very fond memories of his time there. fun environment and high expectations Please let us know your feedback.
