Evaporation Of Liquids Jasmine Crum 1st period Physical science
Topic Question Do all liquids evaporate at the same time?
Hypothesis If each liquid had the same amount and were placed at the same temperature, then they should evaporate at the same time.
Materials Water Orange Juice Alcohol Nail Polish Remover
Experimental Procedure Poured ½ cup into each cup Put each cup in a room temperature room Observed how much each liquid evaporated each day for 5 days
Variables Independent Variable: amount of poured into each cup Dependent Variable: the liquids used
The Experiment
Data & Observations Day Water Orange Juice Nail Polish Remover Alcohol 1 ½ cup 2 1/3 cup 3 ¼ cup 4 1 tbs. 5
Conclusion My hypothesis was not supported because all of the liquids did not evaporate at the same rate. Over the course of 5 days, nail polish remover evaporated the fastest, alcohol next, water, and then orange juice. All the liquid started with ½ cup, by the 5th day water evaporated down to 1/3 cup, alcohol went to ¼ cup, orange juice didn’t evaporate at all, and nail polish remover evaporated to 1 tbs.
