Organisms Live to… Reproduce! If an organism reproduces its genes live on. If it fails to reproduce, its genes die with it.

In Sexual Reproduction There are sex organs. Specific body parts that aid in reproduction.

Human Reproduction Follow the same rules. In human reproduction, there are two different sexes Male Female

Male Reproductive System Purpose: To produce sperm and deliver it to the female

Male Reproductive Parts The parts Penis Testes

The Parts Penis External sexual organ The job of the penis is to get the sperm inside the female

The Parts Testes Primary job is to produce sperm. Secondary job is to produce the male hormone testosterone. Mature sperm is stored in the Epididymis

What are some problems that can occur in male reproductive System. P Inguinal hernia Sterility Enlarged prostate gland Sexual transmitted diseases Cancer

What are some ways to take care of yourself to avoid problems? Self examination Bathe regularly Avoid wearing tight underwear Abstain from sexual activity

Female Reproductive System Purpose: Produces eggs Ensures development of fertilized eggs Gives birth

Female Reproductive Parts The Parts Ovary Fallopian Tube Uterus Vagina

The Parts Ovary The ovary is where the eggs are at Job is to hold onto and release eggs Estrogen production

The Parts Fallopian Tubes Responsible for connecting the ovaries to the uterus. This is where fertilization occurs

The Parts Uterus Organ where fetus grows and develops

The Parts Vagina Serves as a passageway for the penis Serves as a passageway for the baby

What are some problems that can occur in female reproductive System. P Premenstrual Syndrome Toxic shock syndrome Infertility Ovarian cysts Sexually transmitted diseases Cancer

What are some ways to take care of yourself to avoid problems? Self examination Bathe regularly Record menstrual cycles Abstain from sexual activity

Fertilization Sperm fertilizes the egg creating a ZYGOTE. Zygote travels down fallopian tubes/ attaches to the thick wall of the uterus and begins to grow. ( embryo) The developing fetus lives off the mother’s food and oxygen for the next 40 weeks.
