Concept: Detroit, 1943 Right before the Race Riots in June, a black family living in the new Sojourner Truth Projects near the all black neighborhood Paradise Valley is being terrorized by the white mobs associated with the KKK. The father of the family has recently lost his job in the factory to wounded white veterans returning from WWII. He has been searching desperately for work in order to keep his home and feed his wife and children, but racial tensions are high and not many businesses are willing to hire a black man or pay him a living wage.
