Mrs. Smith 7th grade Social Studies Welcome to Open House! Mrs. Smith 7th grade Social Studies
About me I earned my undergrad at St. Francis in Elementary Education with endorsements in Science, Social Studies and Language Arts. I went back for a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Olivet University. Most recently, I am attending classes at the University of St. Francis to get my Learning Behavior Specialist Certification. This is my 7th year teaching. I have been married for over 17 years I have 2 daughters they are in 5th and 7th grade.
Homework and Tests Homework Tests If homework is assigned it is important to the comprehension of the unit we are working on. I do not assign homework just to assign homework Homework is a Formative grade and will enter the grade book as 25% of their overall grade Your child will ALWAYS have a study guide for every test they take Everything covered in the study guide and in class are fair game for a test. I assign 4 essay questions on each test. They pick 2. Tests are a summative grade at 75% of the grade
Grading Scale and Reassessments There will be no zeros given in the grade book for assignments scored below a 50% or not handed in. Our grading scale is 90-100=A 89-80=B 79-70=C 69-60=D 59-50=F If your child believes that he/she can improve their grade they may retest. D/F’s MUST retest. I will allow any assignment to be retaken. It is my goal for all students to reach their personal best. Retest forms must be submitted and all the make up work must be submitted before the retest/ retake is given.

John F. Kennedy I am certain that after the dust of centuries has passed over our cities, we, too, will be remembered not for victories or defeats in battle or in politics, but for our contribution to the human spirit.
