Assessment and Treatment of Dysphagia in Japan Hawaii Speech-Language-Hearing Association Presents: Assessment and Treatment of Dysphagia in Japan This course will focus on assessment and treatment strategies for adults with dysphagia in Japan. It will cover cultural differences in incidence of aspiration pneumonia, indication for dysphagia therapy, and preferences for oral intake in Japan. A multidisciplinary team approach to management of dysphagia will be highlighted. Assessment tools and therapeutic techniques will be described including use of technology and modified food items. When: Tuesday, March 13, 2018 4:30 PM-6:00PM Registration starts at 4:00 PM Cost: HSHA Members: $10 Non-HSHA Members: $20 ASHA CE Fee: $5 (ASHA CEUs pending) About our speaker: Dr. Isamu Shibamoto is Professor and Chair of the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at Seirei Christopher University in Japan, and Adjunct Professor in the School of Medicine at Mahidol University in Thailand. He is the President of the Asia Pacific Society of Speech, Language and Hearing; an Executive Board member of the Japanese Association of Speech, Language and Hearing Therapists; Editor of the Japanese Society of Dysphagia Rehabilitation; and member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics, and the Dysphagia Research Society.
