Agenda Introduce problem domain Products to solve problem Luminis product family introduction How uPortal fits What we are doing with uPortal Luminis’ position in the market Demonstration Implementation tactics, lessons, and services Q & A
The disconnected campus Key Higher Education Challenges The disconnected campus Diverse organizations Disconnected systems and processes Decentralized experience Diverse constituents & needs If you campus is like typical campuses, this is your reality… Diverse systems, resources and communities that are disconnected… And the responsibility to manage these disconnected systems and communities — a task requiring a significant investment of time, money and energy (“Imagine if…” scenarios here, as a transition to the next slide)
Campus Pipeline’s Mission Campus Pipeline provides innovative products and services to institutions of higher education that create and unify the digital campus A unified digital campus unites disparate technology systems into a coherent whole — and makes them available from a single, centralized location Well, that’s what we do. Our products and services create a unified digital campus that unites disparate technology systems into a coherent whole — and makes them available from a single, centralized location

What we’re doing with uPortal Aggregated Layout Management (ALM) ALM provides the ability to associate some elements that appear in a user’s layout with different owners and grant to these owners the ability to restrict in some way what end users can do with them. ALM provides a mechanism for defining rules by which these externally owned elements are included automatically into a user’s final layout if they meet the criteria defined in the rules.

Implementing Luminis I thought this presentation was about IMPLEMENTATION? It is. We expect by Fall: 3 schools in FULL PRODUCTION (full campus population) 6 schools in PARTIAL PRODUCTION (subset of campus population) 5 schools in PRE-PRODUCTION (installed and testing) This represents penetration for uPortal, which gives uPortal clout and influence over standards and technology direction.
Implementation Follow a process In our case, we’ve created a process called: Recommended Success Formula Assessment of the institution’s state of affairs with regard to a unified digital campus A Visioning Workshop and Planning sessions with key decision makers on campus Training Certification Technical planning, consulting and training Implement Communicate Plan Support Assess
Implementation Recommended Success Formula Assess Plan Implement Visioning Workshop Project Planning Technical Planning System Administration Campus Readiness Review Focus Groups/Surveys Technical Assessment Trainer Certification End User Training Power User Training Instructor Orientation I N S T A L L A T I O N Impact: Identify readiness and viability of all technical systems Assess and prioritize needs of all business units and users Anticipate and identify project critical issues and risks Impact: Create comprehensive project plan for all technical and functional requirements Ensure campus-wide buy-in for Digital Campus Initiative by involving cross functional team Achieve familiarity (Sys. Admin.) Recognize need for communication and feedback processes Impact: Ensure user competence and confidence Market benefits of Digital Campus across the organization Prepare for and train ongoing support resources
