FHS GIRLS LACROSSE 2018 FEB. 26TH 2018

PURPOSE STATEMENT I coach to help young athletes grow a love for sports while developing life skills such as teamwork, fulfilling commitments, and punctuality that they can carry with them into their personal and future professional lives.

MEET THE COACHES STEPH LAVICTOIRE, HEAD COACH 2010 Rosemount High School 2013 MN State University, Mankato Communication Studies Cum Laude Honors Also works at Transport America in Eagan FYLA 2011 4th Season at FHS

BRAD ALBANO ASSISTANT COACH I played football at Bemidji State University where I received my degree in Sport Management, eventually to pursue my master's in athletic training. I work at farmington health & fitness next to family fresh grocery store. I also coach gymnastics at farmington gymnastics center and for the high school. I have coached college football for 1 year, high school football for 2 years. I've coached gymnastics for what will be 8 years coming up both at the high school and club levels.

BECKY GENZLER JV COACH/ASSISTANT COACH I graduated from Farmington in 2015 where I was a member of the varsity lacrosse team for 5 years and a captain my senior year. Played club lacrosse with Minnesota Lakers for 6 years. Attended Augsburg College for my freshman year where I played on the D3 women’s lacrosse team. Transferred to the University of Minnesota before the start of my sophomore year where I am now a member of the D1 Club women’s lacrosse team. Coached 2 seasons with FYLA, 2 seasons as the JV coach at Lakeville North and 1 season with LLA.

COACHING EXPECTATIONS Be a positive role model Coach every athlete Communicate Commitment

COACHING PHILOSOPHY Athletes will not be yelled at for mistakes, especially in practice. On task behavior and full effort is expected. Playing time is based on various circumstances and factors Attendance, effort, team chemistry, attitude, coach’s discretion

GOALS AND HOPES FOR THE SEASON Have everyone involved. On and off of the field Build a friendly, fun, and memorable season Items that don’t show up on stat sheet to dominate our team environment and culture Heart, effort, passion, enthusiasm, dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Athletes to leave the season with a greater love for the game. Gain skills and tactical knowledge to improve.

PLAYER EXPECTATIONS Be on time to practice, games, film, weight training, and other lacrosse events. Follow ALL MSHSL rules. This includes substance abuse. Be mindful of social media. Maintain passing grades in all classes. Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic all season. Remember you represent FHS; sportsmanship is a must. Team, teammate, self Being part of the team is a privilege Respect everyone: opponent, ref, parents, coaches, school employees Attend class- we get a report every day if you miss class or if you are tardy at anytime in the day.

TIME MANAGEMENT Time management is essential for success during our busy season. Missing practice for another activity/sport is an unexcused absence. Manage academics. Missing practice because class time was not used properly is an unexcused absence. Your grades are checked on a regular basis. We will bring issues to you if/when we find them. Communicate absences/tradies to coaches ASAP. Email or phone is acceptable. Messages through teammates is not acceptable.

PARENT EXPECTATIONS Support your child’s efforts and successes. Let coaching staff know of any medical concerns regarding your child. Provide and model a positive environment, sportsmanship, and mature behavior. Treat faculty, coaches, other parents, opponents, refs, and athletes (including your child) with respect. Allow your athlete to formulate their own opinions. Please do not voice displeasures regarding the team, coaching, playing time, and officials to your child. Support your child. Do not enter the playing area or bench unless permitted by athletic director, facility supervisor, or the coaching staff. Do not text the coaches/athletes during a game.

EXPECTATIONS CONTINUED Allow the athlete to bring concerns to coaches prior to parent involvement. This promotes growth and maturity. If a parent intervenes after the athlete has attempted to discuss matters with the coach the protocol will hold as follows: Allow the student to approach the coach first. Allow situations to simmer 24 hours prior to contacting a coach; do not confront a coach immediately after practice/games as this often does not resolve an issue. Contact the coach to schedule a meeting. The student, parents, and the coaching staff will all meet to address concerns. If needed, the next step is to involve Mr. Tschida or the current Athletic Director at FHS.

Appropriate concerns How to help your athlete improve Equipment Your athletes’ attitude, work ethic, and behavior Treatment of your child mentally and physically Issues not to approach a coach with Playing time Team strategy, play calling, practice structure, and other coaching items Other student athletes
