How Can I Receive Financial Aid to Pay My Bill? Complete the following forms by the published deadlines. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Complete the 2018-2019 FAFSA for Summer 2018, Fall 2018, and Spring 2019 using 2016 taxes Use TWU School Code = 003646 Use IRS Data Retrieval Process TWU Financial Aid Certification and Information Form Not required to apply but must be completed before financial aid awards can be posted. Submit other forms as requested.

What is available? Go to https://www.twu.edu/finaid/types-of-aid/ and select a category: Scholarships Grants Loans Student Employment/Federal Work Study Within each category you will find information about available awards, eligibility requirements, and if additional forms are required to apply for different aid programs. Be sure to review the “Eligibility Requirements” section for information regarding what is needed and what must be maintained to continue qualifying for federal aid and state awards.

What happens after I submit my forms? You will receive periodic notices sent to your TWU email account listing missing documents or information. Your TWU email account is our primary source of communication to you. You may refer to your Pioneer Portal for financial aid application, missing document, and award statuses. After you have submitted all applications and documents, the Financial Aid Team will review your financial aid eligibility. You will be awarded financial aid for which you are eligible on a funds-available basis.

What happens after I am awarded financial aid? An email will be sent to your TWU email account notifying you that you have a financial aid award. Follow the instructions to view and accept or reject your awards through the TWU Pioneer Portal via WebAdvisor. If you want to reduce the amount of a loan or other award: Print the award letter Mark the changes on the award letter Send the signed award letter to the financial aid office.

What steps do I take if I am awarded loans? For Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford and Grad PLUS Loans, go to https://studentloans.gov: Sign the Master Promissory Note Complete Entrance Loan Counseling For Parent Loans, the parent must: Complete the PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note at https://studentloans.gov Print and complete the TWU PLUS Request Form - http://www.twu.edu/finaid/forms Loan funds cannot be released at the appropriate time unless all steps have been completed. What do you need to do if you are awarded loans? After you are awarded loans, you will need to complete additional steps to finalize your loan awards. If you are awarded a Federal Direct Subsidized or Unsubsidized Stafford Loan or a Grad Plus loan, you will need to go to www.studentloans.gov to complete the loan process including completing Entrance Loan Counseling. You must also go to your TWU Pioneer Portal to accept or reject your financial aid awards. Notice. If you wish to change an amount of a loan award you must print the award letter, indicate the new requested amount for each loan award and loan period, sign the Award Notice and return it to the TWU Financial Aid Office. If your parent is awarded a Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students, your parent must go to the www.studentloans.gov website to complete the loan process.

What if I applied late or do not have aid? You may apply for the TPE Emergency Loan if your financial aid and/or other resources will not cover your minimum TWU payment. For information and application: Go to https://webadvisor.twu.edu and log in with your Portal username and password, Select “Emergency Loan Application” under the Financial Aid Heading, Read all instructions and complete the application entirely. NOTE: Emergency Loans are not available for books or other expenses.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), protects personally identifiable information in student education records (such as the student’s name, address, financial records, and grades) from disclosure without the student’s signed, written consent unless such consent is not required by law. Students may authorize person specific access to their education records (financial aid, academic, etc.) by completing an “Authorization to Release Education Records” form and returning to the Registrar’s Office. This form can be found at: www.twu.edu/media/documents/registrar/FERPA-release.pdf

Installment Payment Plan – Fall 2018 Online enrollment in the plan is mandatory for balances not paid in full thru Pay Your Bill or Pay Online links. 25% down payment plus $25 installment fee due at enrollment. Required by August 21! Plan opens in mid-July. Accepted financial aid/scholarships/cash payments applied to down payment and future payments until depleted. Three future installment dates: September 15, 2018 October 15, 2018 November 15, 2018

Tuition Rebate Plan In accordance with Texas Education Code Chapter 54.0065, a qualified student is eligible for a rebate of a portion of undergraduate tuition that has been paid if— Student is awarded a degree within four calendar years of the date the student initially enrolled at TWU And has attempted no more than three hours in excess of the minimum credit hours required to complete the degree. Complete tuition rebate form in Registrar’s Office at the beginning of final semester.
