Sue Fredin 8th Grade- Physical Science

Teacher Background B.S. in Biological Sciences from San Diego State University Teaching credential from National University 14 years of teaching experience in science, math, A.S.B. and P.E. Over 20 years experience raising my own children Currently, the department uses CBL data collection and PC analysis in 4 of its 2-semester courses Each of these courses utilizes lab investigations specifically written for CBL data collection, enabling students to perform experiments not previously possible in school labs All in-coming freshman are requested to purchase a TI-83 plus graphing calculator for science courses

Learning by Inquiry This is an inquiry based course. Scientific Thinking Takes many forms Currently the department has: 45 CBL and CBL 2 data collection devices connecting to 9 different types of probes 9 OHP-compatible TI-83 plus calculators with view screens 3 labs with on-line computers linked to view screens 15 specially written lab investigations for CBL data collection 72 computers equipped with Graphical Analysis, TI-Interactive, and TI-Graph Link software 3

I expect my students to… Develop their abilities to question, reason, and think critically about science Work together to gather and discuss evidence Relate their learning to real life questions 72 computers are equipped with Graphical Analysis, TI-Interactive and TI-Graph Link software for data transfer from calculators

Prentice Hall, Focus on Physical Science SEPUP, Issues and Physical Science

This is an introductory course in Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy Units Studying Materials Scientifically • The Chemistry of Materials • Water (Chemical Reactions) • Energy • Force and Motion • Astronomy 72 computers are equipped with Graphical Analysis, TI-Interactive and TI-Graph Link software for data transfer from calculators
