Indiana Department of Education What is Title 1? Supplemental federal funding for low achieving students targeted to high poverty schools. How Does a School Become Title 1? Title I funds are allocated to an “eligible school attendance area” based on the school’s poverty percentage. Free and Reduced lunch data is used to determine the poverty level of each school. Schools with 75% poverty or higher must be served. Indiana Department of Education http://www.doe.in.gov/
Indiana Department of Education School-Wide Title 1 Earhart is a school-wide Title 1 school. This means Title 1 money is used to upgrade the entire educational program while also providing additional assistance to the most at-risk students. How Does Title 1 Help My School? Title 1 allows Earhart to provide: Interventionists to allow for smaller math and reading groups. Parent’s Right To Know As a parent of a student in a Title I school you have the right to request and receive information in a timely manner regarding the professional qualifications of your student’s classroom teachers. A Right To Know letter will be mailed home from LSC with more details.

Written Complaint Title I Complaint Resolution Procedures: 2014-2015 Lafayette School Corporation strives to meet the needs of all families and students served through Title I. However, if we have failed to meet your expectations we want to know about it. When concerns are shared with us in writing, the procedures outlined on the next slide will govern the investigation and resolution of these concerns. LSC will be mailing a copy of the Complaint Policy to all families.
