The Five Points of Yoga

Consider this: A car requires five things: A lubricating system A battery A cooling system Fuel A responsible driver behind the wheel The body is like a vehicle for the soul and needs specific requirements to run smoothly and optimally.

Proper Exercise Asanas This is the asanas (poses) we practice every day. The asanas act as a lubricating routine to our joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons and other parts of the body by increasing circulation and flexibility. Ligaments attach bone to bone Tendons connect muscle to bone

Proper Breathing Pranayama Breathing aids the body in connecting to its batter, the solar plexus, where tremendous potential energy is stored. Through yoga breathing techniques – even a simple full yoga breath - helps energy be released and rejuvenates the physical and mental body.

Proper Relaxation Savasana This is how we cool the body down, like a radiator of a car. When the body and or mind is constantly overworked, it starts to run down and becomes less efficient. Relaxation is Nature’s way of recharging the body.

Proper Diet Fuel for the body! Eating healthy and nutritious are essential as is drinking clean water. Reducing the amount of toxins in our body help keep it running smooth.

Positive Thinking and Meditation Dhyana Positive thinking and meditation put you, the driver, in control of your body. Being tuned and aware of your needs, both your mental state of mind and your physical body, helps you understand who you are, helps you stay calm, and be peaceful.

Review The five points of yoga are: Proper Exercise (lubrication) Proper Breathing (battery) Proper Relaxation (cooling system) Proper Diet (fuel) Positive Thinking and Meditation (Responsible driver)
