Do you like taking photos? Designing? Writing? Take Journalism!!! Do you like taking photos? Designing? Writing? Talking to people? Look no further! Journalism 1 is the pre-requisite for East’s award winning publications, the East Quill (yearbook) and East Scroll (newspaper). J1 is open to anyone, grades 9-12 and is taken for elective credit.

What do you do in journalism? Learn how to interview Learn how to use the First Amendment responsibly and effectively Learn how to write concise and interesting news, feature and opinion articles (you choose all of your own topics!) Learn how to use Adobe InDesign and Photoshop to present your own writing in a cool, visually appealing way Your final is a magazine featuring ALL of your original work! Student work:

Debate: A class for your future

Speaking for life This course will: Strengthen your thinking skills with debate events. Strengthen speaking skills with speech events.

Speech events Acting Interpreting poetry Interpreting stories Learn how to use your voice Learn how to use your non verbal communication skills
