“Biblical Salvation” ~ John 14:6

Biblical Salvation How has God told us that men are saved in the scriptures? How is this different from what many denominations teach concerning salvation? Have I been saved according to the scriptures, or the Baptists, Catholics, etc.?

A Mindset to Please God We must be self-surrendered & submissive to God’s will (Jn. 8:29; 2 Cor. 10:12, 18). The only way we can know what pleases God is by what is revealed in the Bible (2 Thess. 2:12-13; Jn. 8:32).

Examples to Learn from… Cain did not have a mindset to please God, according to God’s terms (Gen. 4:3-5; Heb. 11:4; Rom. 10:17; Cf. Acts 10:34-35). Naaman needed to accept God’s terms (2 Ki. 5:1- 14; Cf. Mk. 16:16). Saul of Tarsus needed to be humbled & accept God’s terms (Acts 26:9-10; Cf. 23:1, 22:16)

Christ Has the Right To Direct our Beliefs And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. Matt 28:18-20 (NKJV) And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, Heb 5:9 (NKJV)

Christ Has the Right To Direct our Beliefs For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels. Luke 9:26 (NKJV) He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. John 12:48 (NKJV)

There is Only One True Gospel! Neither man nor angels have the right to preach any other (Gal. 1:8). Men have been commanded not to teach a different doctrine (1 Tim. 1:3; 2 Tim. 1:13; Tit. 2:1; Eph. 4:4-6). In the days of the Early Church, the Apostles & prophets all preached the same message (Acts 2:14, 47; Cf. Jn. 17:20-22).

Conditions for Biblical Salvation All Must Hear the Gospel (Mk. 4:23; Mt. 17:5; Rom. 10:17). All Must Believe the Gospel (1 Cor. 15:1-8; Rom. 1:4; Mk. 16:15-16). All Must Repent (Lk. 13:5; Acts 17:30). All Must Confess (Mt. 10:32-33; Mt. 16:16; Rom. 10:10). All Must Be Baptized (Mk. 16:16; Acts 2:38, 41). Obedience is essential to salvation (Heb. 5:9).

Biblical Salvation How has God told us that men are saved in the scriptures? How is this different from what many denominations teach concerning salvation? Have I been saved according to the scriptures, or the Baptists, Catholics, etc.?

All you have to do is believe… and that is it?! Mark 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”(NKJV) James 2:19 “You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?” (NKJV)

All you need to do is ask Jesus into your heart to be saved?! Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (NKJV) Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”(NKJV) Acts 2:38 “Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (NKJV)

Say the “sinner’s prayer” and you will be saved?! Acts 2:40 “And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation." 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.” (NKJV)

Baptism isn’t necessary… It is just an outward show of your inward faith?!! 1Peter 3:21 “There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him. Acts 22:16 “And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” (NKJV)

You can be sprinkled or immersed when baptized… it doesn’t matter?! Ephesians 4:4 “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. (NKJV)

Once saved, always saved?! 2 Peter 2:20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: "A dog returns to his own vomit," and, "a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.” Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. (NKJV)

Biblical Salvation How has God told us that men are saved in the scriptures? How is this different from what many denominations teach concerning salvation? Have YOU been saved ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES, or the Baptists, Catholics, etc.?
