In Lent we make a special effort to spend more time doing three things that were important to Jesus: Prayer Fasting Sharing

Jesus went into Galilee and told people the Good News from God Jesus went into Galilee and told people the Good News from God. He said, “The time has come. God’s kingdom is very near. Change your hearts and lives, and believe the Good News!” Mark 1:13-15

The Lindalva Centre

Without school, children can’t learn or stay safe The Lindalva Centre has already changed the lives of hundreds of children, but the centre only has space for a limited number of children at a time. There are also many more children in the surrounding area who live too far away from the centre to get there. These children continue to face the same problems that Sister Eulie witnessed over ten years ago. They are left at home alone while their parents go to work, often roaming the dangerous streets, collecting rubbish to earn money and vulnerable to be taken advantage of. Sister Eulie decided something more needed to be done. Without school, children can’t learn or stay safe

A Tuk-tuk

The Tuk-tuk is more than just a school! The mobile Tuk-Tuk Education Centre is more than just a school on wheels. The Sisters also provide the children with food to aid their concentration and encourage them to attend the lessons. The tuk-tuk brings educational toys for the younger children, so that everyone can join in, even if they are not yet ready for school. Sister Eulie knows the importance of education. It gives children the ability to build new lives for themselves; to have the chance to find work when they are older and not be trapped in poverty like their parents. It gives them hope. The Tuk-tuk is more than just a school!

The Sisters need more tuk-tuks So Sister Eulie and the Daughters of Charity started the mobile Tuk-Tuk Education Centre! A tuk-tuk is a three-wheeled vehicle, a common mode of transport in many countries around the world. Having an education centre on a tuk-tuk means that the Sisters can bring ‘school’ to those children who can’t get to school themselves. The tuk-tuk contains books, paper, posters and lots of materials to teach children English, Maths, health & hygiene and cultural studies. A sister and a locally-trained teacher take the vehicle to struggling communities where they meet the local children and lessons can begin. The children in these villages look forward with excitement to the arrival of the tuk-tuk and are happy to be able to learn together in a safe environment. The Sisters need more tuk-tuks

Mission Together Prayer: May all children In the world Share love Share friendship and live In the peace Of God’s love. Now and forever. Amen
