The value of the properties inside the district is calculated and the total amount of property tax generated is noted. The life span of a TIF district is 23 years. For the next 23 years all property revenue above the base amount is captured by the TIF district as incremental revenue. BID: A business improvement district is an area within which businesses are required to pay an additional tax in order to fund projects within the district's boundaries.
