RCDs RoHS Program RESISTORS-CAPACITORS-COILS-DELAY LINES Action Item 1) Develop lead-free option on all product lines 2) Adopt lead-free construction as the standard construction. 3) Replace existing raw material and finished goods inventory with lead-free inventory. 4) Orders for U.S. military and defense subcontractors will remain Tin-Lead (if specified and ordered accordingly) until acceptance of lead-free version. Pb R C D LEAD-FREE PCN R-40 P.1 of 3 4/28/05 RCDs RoHS/Lead-Free program, initially undertaken in 2002, involves a 4- step process. RCD Part Number Conversion RESISTORS-CAPACITORS-COILS-DELAY LINES Pricing Impact Initially, the lead-free version resulted in slightly higher costs on most products. At this point, there is no cost adder on almost all lead-free product, and in fact is lower cost than most products with tin/lead plating. It is expected that terminations with lead with continue to increase in cost as the demand decreases. In order to prevent confusion concerning lead (Pb) content, RCD has changed all part numbers to include a termination code. Code W indicates RoHS/Lead Free construction. Code Q indicates Tin/Lead construction.
