EAS IV Repository Universe Contains 25 Classes – logical groupings of specific data elements or “Objects” Queries are constructed by selecting Objects from valid Class combinations

EAS IV Repository Universe Compatible Class Combinations X’s in the matrix indicate compatible classes – your queries can contain objects from compatible classes only Y’s identify principal classes – you must select objects from the principal class first, followed by other compatible classes

Class 01: Location Class 01 can be used with all other EAS IV Classes except 11 – MTF ASD table Can be used to define scope All values are categorical, no quantitative data included “Child” or “Reporting” facility information HS Region is mapped by Reporting DMIS ID, not Parent DMIS ID as in MEQS Service-specific facility groups

Class 02: Load Status Class 02 can only be used with Class 01 Data load dates by Parent Facility and fiscal month All values are categorical, no quantitative data included Data load dates by fiscal month (01 – 12) Data Load Status Codes: C - Completed Successfully More detailed EAS IV data load information is available in Class 23

Hands-on Application Exercise 1

Exercise 1: Challenge Produce a report listing the EAS IV Repository data load status for Fiscal Year 2005 for Army MTFs in the North Atlantic Region Medical Command. Hint: MTF’s should have already submitted FM09 (June) data.

Exercise 1: Approach Results Objects: Conditions: Class 02: Fiscal Year, Parent DMIS ID, Load Date 01, Load Date 02, Load Date 03, Load Date 04, Load Date 05, Load Date 06, Load Date 07, Load Date 08, Load Date 09 Class 01: Parent DMIS Name, Regional Medical Code Conditions: Class 02: Fiscal Year Equal to 2005 And Class 01: Regional Medical Code Equal to NORTH ATLANTIC

Exercise 1: Results Note: Data extracted 08 July 2005

Class 05: Common Expense Elements Can be used only with Classes 06, 07, 09, 10 DoD – standardized financial information All values are categorical, no quantitative data included F - Financial M - Manual P - Personnel SEEC-based – remnant from Enrollment Based Capitation (EBC) – not current D - Direct R - Reimbursable S - Resource Sharing

Class 06: Expense Detail Principal Class, compatible with 01, 03, 04, 05, and 11 Includes major expense components MTF-specific 4th-level FCC descriptions can be obtained from Class 11 DoD-standard 3rd-level FCC descriptions are available in Class 03 Total Expenses can be computed by adding: Direct Expense Net Month Purified Expense Expense Contributed Stepdown Expense from D accounts Stepdown Expense from E accounts

Hands-on Application Exercise 2

Exercise 2: Challenge Produce a report listing Fiscal Year 2005 Medical/Dental Supplies expenses for Sheppard AFB Hospital (DMIS ID 0113) by fiscal month. Hint – use DoD SEEC Category 8 from Class 5 Pull DoD SEEC Category Description from Class 5

Exercise 2: Approach Results Objects: Conditions: Class 06: Fiscal Year, Fiscal Month Mm, Parent DMIS ID, Direct Expense Net Month Class 05: DoD SEEC Category, DoD SEEC Category Description Class 01: Parent DMIS Name Conditions: Class 06: Fiscal year Equal to 2005 And Class 06: Parent DMIS ID Equal to 0113 And Class 05: DoD SEEC Category Equal to 8

Exercise 2: Results Note: Data extracted 08 July 2005

Class 08: Common Expense Allocation Keys Compatible only with Classes 09 & 10 All values are categorical, no quantitative data included Identifies the type of expense 1 – Direct 2 – Cost Pool 3 – Support Services 4 – Support Services via Cost Pool 5 – Ancillary 6 – Ancillary via Cost Pool 7 – Expense Contributed Provides personnel skill type detail (“N” indicates Non-Personnel Expense) Specific allocation expense contributions. For example, Rx expenses by inpatient FCC, or from a reporting DMIS ID To account for all Ancillary or Support Expenses allocated, you must include expenses “via Cost Pools”

Class 09: Expense Allocated Principal Class compatible with 01, 03, 04, 05, 08, & 11 Exact type of expense is determined by Objects from compatible Classes. (For example, selecting “Expense Indicator” from Class 08 returns expenses by specific Expense Indicator)

Wildcards Wildcards are used with the “Matches pattern” or “Different from pattern” operators Two wildcards are valid in Business Objects “%” represents all characters This query returns all 4th-level FCC’s ending in “5” (APVs) at DMIS ID 0037

Wildcards The second wildcard, “_” represents specific character positions This query returns all 4th-level FCC’s beginning with “A” and having an “X” in the 3rd position (inpatient costpools) at DMIS ID 0037
