Brief History of Dispensationalism Began in the 1830’s, greatly promoted by John Nelson Darby, an Irish preacher who helped found the Plymouth Brethren movement. Darby preached in the U.S. a couple of times at Walnut Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, Dr. James Brookes (pastor). C. I. Scofield- Published his study Bible in 1909. Seven Historic Dispensations Innocence – Adam under probation prior to the Fall. Ends with expulsion from the Garden of Eden. (Gen. 1:28) Conscience – From the Fall to the Great Flood. Ends with the worldwide deluge. (Gen. 3:7) Human Government – After the Great Flood, humanity responsible to enact the death penalty. Ends with the dispersion at the Tower of Babel. (Gen. 8:15) Promise – From Abraham to Moses. Ends with the refusal to enter Canaan and the 40 years of unbelief in the wilderness. (Gen. 12:1) Law – From Moses to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Ends with the scattering of Israel in AD 70. (Ex. 19:1) Grace – From the cross to the Second Coming. Ends with the wrath of God comprising the Great Tribulation. (Acts 2:1) Millennial Kingdom – A 1000 year reign of Christ on earth centered in Jerusalem. Ends with God's judgment on the final rebellion. (Rev. 20:4) 3/13/2016

Tribulation Period – Seven years beginning with the rapture and ending with the Second Coming. Millenium– 1,000 years beginning after the Second Coming and ending in the final rebellion. Great White Throne Judgment – After the Millenium Eternal State – New Heavens, new Earth 3/13/2016
