Birth Ernesto Guevara was born to Celia de la Serna y Llosa and Ernesto Guevara Lynch. Ernesto was born on June 14, He was born in Rosario, Argentina.

Early Life He is the the eldest of five children in a White Argentine family of Spanish, Basque and Irish descent. Guevara was introduced to a wide variety of political perspectives even as a boy. His father was a supporter of the Spanish Civil War and hosted some of the war veterans in the Guevara home.

Motorcycle Journey In 1948, Guevara entered the University of Buenos Aires to study medicine. In 1951 he took a year off from studies to go on a trip in South America by motorcycle with his friend Alberto Granado. He had a goal of spending a few weeks volunteering at the San Pablo Leper colony in Peru, on the banks of the Amazon River.

Motorcycle Trip-continued Later on his journey, Guevara was impressed by the camaraderie among those living in a Leper Colony. He stated, The highest forms of human solidarity and loyalty arise among such lonely and desperate people. Guevara used notes taken during his trip to write an account entitled The Motorcycle Diaries, which later became a New York Times best-seller, and was created into a 2004 film of the same name.

Ernestos Marriage In Guatemala City, Guevara sought out Hilda Gadea Acosta. She was a Peruvian economist who was a member of the American Popular Revolutionary Alliance. He married Gadea in Mexico in September of 1955.

Mexico City Guevara arrived in Mexico City in early September He worked in the allergy section of the General Hospital. In addition he gave lectures on medicine at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and worked as a news photographer for Latina News Agency.

Fidel Castro Unable to watch Fulgencio Batista badly treat the poor people of Cuba, Che Guevara left the medical profession and joined the forces of Fidel Castro. Castro and his forces crossed the Caribbean in 1956, in a journey aboard the yacht-Granma. The invading party landed and fought bravely to conquer the Sierra Maestro.

Cuban Revolution Che Guevara was soon made commander of Castros forces. A large part of the Guerrilla forces led by Castro and Guevara, were peasants all abused by feudal land arrangements of Cuba before the revolution. The guerrilla warfare spanned over a period of two years, but Ches men eventually defeated Batistas forces.

Torture and Guerilla Warfare Guevara took delight in torturing and killing traitors and informant, which was done personally. He eventually published a book called Guerrilla Warfare. It documented how a small group of irregulars could defeat the organized army of the Government by recruiting support from the common man on the street which is exactly what happened during the Cuban Revolution.

The Death of Ernesto Che Rafael Guevara de la Sernas On October 8, 1967 Guevara was wounded in the foot and captured near the mountains of central Bolivia. Im Che Guevara and Im worth more to you alive than dead, he tells his captors. The following day, against the CIAs wishes, Guevara is executed with four gunshots to his chest. His last words are reported to be, I know you have come to kill me. Shoot, coward, you are only going to kill a man. Following the execution, Guevaras hands are removed so his identity can be confirmed by fingerprinting. On October 11, hiss handless body, and the bodies of six of his executed colleagues, is secretly buried near the airport at Vallegrande.
