Our mission is to design, deliver and partner on technology education programs that ensure Canadians are prepared to thrive in a digital world.

What is Code? By show of hands, how many of you have coded before? How many of you are completely new to it? Code refers to the language(s) we use to give instructions to a computer in order for it to complete tasks for us.

Code is everywhere. In almost every piece of technology we use in our everyday lives. People in Canada spend more time online than in most other countries around the world. Yet, only BC and NS have made computer programming an official part of the school curriculum.

Our vision: School curriculum is created and adapted to reflect the needs of industry and technology Teachers are adequately supported and empowered to deliver technology education in and outside the classroom Students are sufficiently prepared to create and work in jobs of the future in Canada Workers have the resources they need to re-skill and fill jobs created or transformed by technology

Teachers Learning Code Lesson themes We have developed lessons based on Canadian stories and issues, and school curriculum. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms Residential Schools Terry Fox with the Terry Fox Foundation Environmental Conservation with the Suzuki Foundation The Canadarm-2 with Let’s Talk Science and Chris Hadfield Doodle for Google Canada Takes Flight with Boeing Lesson types Each lesson will be delivered in a custom type that brings it to life in the following formats: Game making Storytelling Digital Art .

We offer educators: How-to-Guides & Physical kits Training & Support We’re providing a physical booklet giving educators everything they need to know about running a workshop. Once they register for the week, we’ll send them fun swag and resources to use in their workshop. Training & Support We’re running train the trainer sessions for educators in the spring to learn how to deliver a workshop. Volunteers Volunteers will be paired with each event where possible to ensure there is support for educators to deliver in the classroom

Scratch Scratch is easy for kids to learn and has a community of teachers around the world constantly adding resources to share with others. The ScratchEd Team has amassed many of these here: http://scratched.gse.harvard.edu/resources Scratch is a visual programming platform developed by MIT to help children learn computational thinking skills and computer programming.
