Coaches Role Display professionalism at all times Be a leader and role model for the players Be fair, honest and treat players with respect Be an effective communicator Provide feedback to the players (formal & informal) Promote our Mission Statement & 3 Pillars Club Pride Technical Skills A love of the game

Coaching Philosophy We will focus on teaching skills, hard work and most importantly having fun Lifelong learning (Players & Coaches) Importance of Fun Development vs. Winning We want players to compete to win but development is more important Peak performance for soccer players (26-30) Player Rotation among teams (Club Centric) Focus on technical skills, skill development & basic tactical understanding Encourage experimentation, creativity, risk taking, 1v1 & Ball Mastery Professional Practice Environment Practice uniform is required Commitment/Integrity & Respect Playing time roughly equal but must be earned based on Attendance & Punctuality-Practice & Games Attitude & Effort Realize and appreciate we are coaching young players and not professionals

Parents Role Be a positive, supportive role model for your child, the team, and your coach Ensure your kids are on time for practice & games Communicate questions and issues directly to the Parent or Professional coach in a civil and timely fashion Unresolved issues can then be escalated to Director of ADP Let the Coach due his/her Job-No coaching from the sidelines

Parents Role (Cont) Enjoy the game with your kids Practice with them in the backyard Become a fan with them-Take them to games (DC United, Washington Spirit, College, HS etc…) Watch soccer on TV Don’t talk about the game on the car ride home unless your child brings it up Let your child know that you “Loved watching them play”

Parents Role (Cont) 5 Signs of an Ideal Sports Parent Cheer everybody on the team, not just your child Model appropriate behavior-No yelling at the referees Know what and when it is suitable to talk with the coach Know your role (Parent) Be a good listener and a great encourager 5 Signs of a Nightmare Sports Parent Overemphasizing winning at the expense of sportsmanship Having different goals than your child Treating your child differently after a loss than a win Undermining the coach  Trying to Live out your own athletic dream through your child
