Problem 1 Thermal Analysis of reinforced concrete beam. Problem Definition Reinforced concrete beam Symmetric about the Y-axis ISO standard fire from three sides Steel ratio = 1% Concrete cover = 30 mm 400 mm 300 mm

Input File Geometrical data and discretizing Using the symmetry about the vertical axis, half the section is discritized as shown. 162 nodes (9X18) 136 elements (8X17) 400 mm 150 mm

Input File Material Properties and boundary conditions Two materials were used, steel and concrete The black area represents the steel reinforcement which is assumed to be uniformly distributed The fire side is denoted by ‘1’

Input File Time of exposure and time increment Time of exposure = 3600 sec ( 1 hour) Time increment = 20 sec Printed time increment = 60 sec

Obtained results Temperature distribution after 30 min of exposure

Obtained Results Temperature distribution after 30 min of exposure to user fire

Problem 2 Structural Analysis of the Reinforced concrete beam Problem Definition Simply supported beam. Thermal analysis is performed in problem 1. fy = 500 MPa f’c = 25 MPa 40 kN/m 4 m

Input File Geometrical data and discretizing 21 nodes 10 elements (3 nodes per element)

Input File Material Properties and boundary conditions Two materials were used, steel and concrete. Simply supported beam. Distributed load of 20 kN/m (half the total loading due to symmetry)

Input File Time of exposure and time increment Time of exposure = 3600 sec ( 1 hour) Time increment = 5 sec Printed time increment = 5 sec

Obtained Results
