Presentation transcript:

rosé Points of Difference Rosé remains one of the fastest growing wine categories in the US wine market accelerating to an impressive 68% growth in $ Volume this past year. * * BANDOL Sourced from Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence appellation in the western section of Provence's limestone lands. Extending from the Durance Rivers to the Mediterranean, and from the Rhone Valley in the West to the Sainte-Victoire Mountain in the East. Clay and limestone rocks make up the soil composition. Grenache (50%), Syrah (30%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) Cold, direct pressed and fermented at low temperatures. Light pink with a hint of pale salmon. A nose of fruit forward aromas of strawberry, melon and citrus. Soft and crisp mouth, with good length showing a touch of sweetness. Being the oldest wine growing area in France and the world’s largest Rosé specialty region, Provence is the gold standard in Rosé. Sourced from cooler, elevated regions in Aix-en- Provence with cooler nights, gentle ripening and higher acidity. Grenache (41%), Syrah (20%), Cinsault (19%), Cabernet Sauvignon (15%), Rolle (5%) Underwent pre-fermentation solids work to enhance palate weight. To ensure maximum complexity, this wine encountered 36 small fermentations using dozens of different yeasts, creating a symphony of flavor. The fruit is contracted from the same growers since 2005. Delicate balance between floral, herbal, just ripe wild red fruit, stone fruit and bright acid on the palate which has tremendous length. Showcases a raspberry, cherry, peach, herbal, citrus and mineral core. In 1992, my father, Philippe Bieler, founded Chateau Routas in Coteaux Varois (a small appellation in the middle of Provence) which sprung my interest in this region and Grenache based blends and Rosé. This Rosé is sourced from the smallest and most prestigious region in Provence, specifically from the village of La Castellet and is grown on limestone soils. Mourvèdre (61%), Grenache (23%), Cinsault (16%) Typically fuller and more substantial than the rest of Provence, this region is equal parts power and finesse making it very special. Vineyards are a stone's throw away from the Mediterranean Sea, resulting in slight salinity that gives way to interwoven aromas and flavors of savory herbs, cherry, blood orange, almond and black licorice and vibrant acidity. Mourvèdre, especially in this seaside location where it reigns supreme, gives a bit more color than does Grenache or Syrah thus why Bandol Rosés tends to be a bit darker than the rest of Provence. Sourced out of Amador County, this Rosé is made from Grenache and Nebbiolo grapes and harvested on the early edge of ripeness to preserve balance of flavor and acid. Grenache (58%), Nebbiolo (42%) Minimal skin contact allowed a delicate pink color to be extracted before 100% stainless steel fermentation. A complex, yet refreshing, wine that radiates a gorgeous light copper hue in the glass. Intense aromas of grapefruit, mandarin orange, watermelon, strawberry and cantaloupe are framed by hints of subtle orange blossom, wet stone and baking spice undertones. The palate is bursting with generous citrus character and strawberry, while minerality drives the core of this wine leading to a clean, crisp finish. rosé Points of Difference Vineyards that spread across the Columbia Valley, from the sandy basins to the higher elevation slopes with ancient soils. The qualities sought after for this program are quite distinct and thus there is not one vineyard whose fruit overlaps with our red wine programs. 2017 began quite late due to a cold and snowy winter that extended in to early spring, delaying bud break by a couple weeks. Hot and dry conditions in July and August sped up the growing season, but in classic Washington fashion, then temperatures dropped dramatically in September allowing a very slow and gentle late season ripening. This produced beautiful development of flavors without much increase in sugar or alcohol, ideal for rosé. We started picking for rose´ by mid-September and kept going until mid-October. Syrah (67%), Cabernet Sauvignon (14%), Grenache (9%), Mourvèdre (7%), Cinsault (2%), Counoise (1%) Notes of wild raspberry and cherry, giving in to bright citrus, Herbs de Provence and lavender. Strong note of rose petal as well carries through on a broad, almost creamy mid-palate and finally a tangy bright finish. Balanced acidity at the finish with savory citrus and red fruit notes with lift and energy are tightly sewn together. Provence-style Rosé with fruit sourced from Monterey, Santa Barbara and Paso Robles. Grenache makes up the larger part of this blend and is sourced from the marine-influenced Monterey and Santa Barbara areas. A small amount of Grenache Blanc, Cinsault and Counoise from the west side of the Paso Robles appellation for added depth and a touch of spice. Grenache (86%), Grenache Blanc (10%), Cinsault (2%), Counoise (2%) After harvest, the fruit was whole cluster pressed upon arrival at the winery. To help preserve the wine’s fruit and natural acidity, reductive winemaking was used to limit the amount of oxygen the wine has exposure to during fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Aromas of strawberry, cherry, rhubarb and white peach with floral notes. On the palate, the wine opens with bright, red fruit flavors followed by crisp, refreshing acidity, and a clean, balanced finish. California appellated and sourced from the Lodi/ Clarksburg appellations, this wine is refreshing and expressive and sourced from the Southern end of the Sierra Nevada mountain range with gentle warm slopes of Linden Hill. Syrah (55%), Grenache (45%) Co-harvested, whole cluster pressed and ultimately co- fermented in 100% stainless steel. Traditional cold, lengthy fermentation (at 55°F) takes 35 days and accentuates the juicy fruit aromas and flavors. Partial lees aging builds texture. This wine has a sweet, light and fruity nose with light, delicate aromas of rose petals and strawberry flavors and finishes with a nice, clean mouth.
