Welcome, introductions, While I am standing up here facilitating today – I know that you are the ones who know the work and you are the ones who understand what your districts need. MI Excel SSoS Evaluation Project “Real-time” evaluation of the impact of MI Excel services in format of a dashboard Visible to MDE and districts Uses existing state data that is collected Uses existing district and school data that is collected in regional data hubs Requires no extra data collection by districts/schools, just permission to access the existing data sets in the data hubs Participation is optional, not required No accountability for districts/schools connected to the dashboard Karen or Bill? MI Excel schools received a communication from MDE asking districts to give permission to MDE to use their existing data in their regional data hubs to help populate this dashboard. Not all districts participate in the data hubs so not all districts will even have this data to populate the data hubs. The important thing is that this is an evaluation about MI Excel – not an evaluation of the districts/schools. What questions might you have about this?

Lunch Conversation Given that the SRO is leaving the Unpacking Tool up to the discretion of each district’s superintendent, what would you recommend to MDE as the course of action for the 2016/17 school year? Keep asking schools to work from Unpacking Tool and not be assigned Goals and Plans and put in Sharepoint Keep asking schools to work from Unpacking Tool and not be assigned Goals and Plans and put somewhere other than Sharepoint Move schools away from Unpacking Tool to Goals and Plans Another option? Unpacking Tool Feedback Take a sticky note and stand up and find a partner at another table Collaboratively decide which option for the Unpacking Tool you recommend and put a blank sticky note on that chart paper If you have a fourth option, please write it on the sticky note and place on the “Other Options” chart paper The reason I am asking you to do this in pairs is because I am hoping for consensus on this recommendation. If the two of you have different ideas about this, can one of you provide a compelling argument for your recommendation and have just one sticky note for the two of you. If that is not possible, each of you can put a sticky note on the recommendation you support if you write on it “My partner and I disagreed.”
