Presentation transcript:

Ms. Passer’s News from Room 106 Week of: September 19th, 2016 Our first two hour late start will be on Monday, September 19th. We have our farm safety day field trip on Thursday the 22nd! The students are doing a great job with getting their planners signed – keep it up! It is also important to go through any papers in their folder each night. *Internet resources are now on our website to practice math and reading skills, IXL is also a great practice tool to use at home! We will finish topic 1 on Monday. It will teach us about using the appropriate tools to solve problems. We will review on Tuesday and take the topic test on Wednesday. The only time homework is sent home for math is if it didn’t get completed during the day and it will be circled in their planner. Lesson 2 of unit 1 teaches us about conclusions and inferring/predicting. The story selection of the week is, “The Trial of Cardigan Jones.” In grammar, we will focus on kinds of sentences while our vocabulary strategy will be compound words. Vocabulary Words: convinced, trial, jury, guilty, pointed, honest, murmur, stand *We will take a reading test every Friday. We had a great start to social studies and science. I think the students enjoyed switching classrooms . We will dig a little deeper into our discussion with communities this week. The students will also continue learning about solar systems in science. We were able to get cursive practice in this last week and will continue to do so. Keep up the awesome work! This week’s writing will also focus on writing to narrate with the focus trait on ideas. My sincere apologies for forgetting two words last week. There are 14 regular words, two review and two challenge. Spelling words (V-C-e words): spoke, mile, save, excuse, cone, invite, cube, price, erase, ripe, broke, flame, life, rule, these, those (challenge words: surprise, decide)
