Gr. 11 Culminating Performance Task: Designing your own project

Learning Goals Developing you own art idea, from conception to execution, in the medium of your choice. Use your sketchbook to develop ideas, and document the process using a variety of communication skills (sketch, write, test/samples, collection images)  Critiques: Use peer and teacher feedback to assist your idea. Provide feedback to peers and demonstrate to teacher critical thinking  Write an artist statement to support your independent piece.

Imagine your masterpiece If You could do anything you want for your culminating Task what would it look like?

What medium you would like use for your culminating performance task? ­­­­­­­­Painting Sculpture Printmaking ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Drawing Mixed Media Performance Art or Installation Art

Answer the questions relating to your particular medium. ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­ Painting What type of paint? acrylic, oils, watercolors Determine the best surface? canvas, masonite, fabric, wood, paper Which techniques will assist you the best? impasto, smooth blending, textured blending, pointillism, hard edge, dry brush, stencils,   Sculpture The material? Clay, wax, wire, plaster bandages, found objects Will it be a sculpture in the round or relief? How will you build your piece?   Printmaking What type of printing method will you be using? linocut, mono-printing, stencils… ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­ Drawing What is the dry media? pencil, charcoal, pastel, pen & ink Determine the best surface to use? type of paper, the colour, the thickness, Mixed Media Which mediums are you planning to combine? What will be your surface? Performance Art or Installation Art How will you document you work? Video tape or photography? What materials will you need? If it’s an installation, where will you put it? Think about the best location.
