Selection Summary Robert Ballard tells the story of his search for and high-tech discovery of the wreck of the Titanic. He also tells the story of the disaster, focusing on the experience of a young girl who survived the dreadful night.

Funnels- smokestacks Smoke was billowing from the funnels as the ship left the docks at Southampton, England.

Plaque- a flat marker that is engraved with words A plaque was made to honor those who lost their lives on the Titanic.

Shipwreck- a wrecked ship The Titanic is the most famous shipwreck of all time.

Survivors- people who have stayed alive Ruth Becker was one of the survivors of the Titanic shipwreck.

Unsinkable- impossible to sink The builders of the Titanic said it was unsinkable.

Voyage- a long journey to a distant place Ruth Becker and her family boarded the Titanic for the voyage to America.

Wreckage- the remains of something that has been destroyed Robert Ballard and his team discovered the wreckage at the bottom of the ocean.
