SOME INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCES BY YOUR PEERS   Victoria Billero - MD. Dr. Paolo Romanelli – Derm. Brother has Dermatology clinic in Pisa, Italy. She shadowed others. Carla Maffeo and Dr. Romanelli organized it. She was funded by a patient of Dr. Romanelli’s. One student per year, stayed with a host family, arranged by Dr. Romanelli. Was able to shadow other areas of medicine also. Daniel Salahuddin – MD-MPH. France program MISEFA. A partnership formed by Donna Shalala. MUST be proficient in French. 1 week Orientation, then Psychiatry Trauma – unaccompanied minors, and smoking cessation. Wide range of exposure – using his experience for Capstone. Jennifer Shiroky – MD-MPH. Haiti – Medishare for 4 weeks. Hospital Bernard Mevs in Port Au Prince, not safe neighborhood, so she ate and slept at the hospital the whole time. Pediatric Residency Program – one of just a few around. ** Said she was able to use the experience to weed out those areas in which she did not have an interest, and now go further with those she does have an interest in. Julia Rothe Amundson – MD-MPH. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. ** MUST speak Portuguese. Dr. Antonio Marttos, Trauma Surgery at Ryder. 2 weeks in Rio de Janeiro at a trauma center that was opened and trained everyone, from Ryder. Danyelle Thomas – MD-MPH. GE-NMF SCHOLAR. Primary Care Leadership Program. Seattle, at a Primary Care Community Health Center. $$ program. Research & Capstone – all at the clinic. (PCLP National Medical Fellowship)
