Teaching English Vocabulary by using Mobile devices

Mobile learning Technology can become the “wings” that will allow the educational world to fly farther and faster than before “if we allow it” Jenny Arledge

Teaching English vocabulary by using mobile devices The type of activities focusing on vocabulary learning via mobile phone differs from one research project to another, depending on the level of language proficiency of the learners

How To Apply M-learning In English Language Classroom

Steps Of Teaching Vocabulary By Using M-learning 1- Get your students to use mobile dictionary to define key words.

2-Download flashcards, quizzes, and other helpers access through IDevices, laptops and desktops, Androids, and Blackberries.

3- Get your students to use a mobile encyclopedia to tell a brief account of some difficult terms with pictures and stories.

4-Get your students to use a mobile camera to make a photo of somethings that they want to know its name in English. They can also take pictures of some vocabulary which they have seen and can’t write them.

5- Get your students to use a mobile to make a documentary of collected vocabulary. ( Personal Dictionary)

6- Get your students to use a mobile to make a short movie or animation shows of some vocabularies using pictrues and flash cards.

7- Get your students to send and receive emails on their mobile phones, to ask about new vocabulary , to send their vocabulary homework or to send some vocabulary lecture to study.

Sending e-mail or SMS to students is a common way of learning new vocabulary based on the lessons covered in the classroom. In a study Kennedy and Levy gave the learners the option to receive messages covering known words in new contexts through SMS to their mobile phones amounting nine or ten messages per week. The results indicated that the messages were very helpful for learning vocabulary

8- Vocabulary in the SMS -The SMS messaging of mobile phones is an instruction tool of great potential because of its high popularity among young adults. -They could memorize the vocabulary in the SMS lessons more easily. The immediacy and novelty of SMS lessons can foster students’ vocabulary learning. It is useful and efficient. It urges us to learn English tirelessly.

8- Send a mobile message every day to explain a word.

9- You can use a lot of educational games which in their mobile devices , it makes them to learn faster.
