Welcome to JAC

The JAC Team Teena Barber Barry Cook Julie Steel

What is JAC? The Junior Achievement Challenge (JAC) is a multi-stage awards programme designed to help children develop as individuals, challenge them in a range of different ways and help them build life long skills whilst having fun with their friends. The programme is designed by them. They choose what activities they want to have a go at, set challenges they wish to overcome and achieve things they may not have thought possible. JAC is all about having fun! Who wants to do something boring?

JAC Structure

Fitness Challenge As we know staying fit and healthy is an important part of life and with the growing obesity crisis within the population it’s important we introduce strategies to tackle it. From simply walking the dog to competing in triathlons, physical activity is hugely beneficial. It teaches the children discipline, coordination, teamwork, resilience and respect. Go for a bike ride Join a local team Volunteer dog walking Learn to swim Attend after school clubs Zumba/aerobics Skipping Tennis Couch to 5k Park runs

Adventure Challenge Who wants to be stuck in the classroom all day when you can be outside having fun. The adventure section is designed to push children to their limit, set goals outside their comfort zone , participate in new activities and experience new challenges. Whether it’s camping or kayaking, skiing or lighting fires there is a new adventure awaiting everyone. Camping Kayaking/canoeing Archery Go ape Segway Climbing Skiing/snowboarding/sledging Sailing Hiking Forest School Axe Throwing Abseiling

Hobbies and Skills From baking to kite surfing and photography to scuba diving, there is a huge range of hobbies and skills that can inspire children to become the next Jamie Oliver or Ariana Grande. Hobbies and skills can be learnt as an individual or with friends. It is important for children to challenge themselves and learn new skills outside their comfort zone. It is only then they can find their true potential and reach impossible dreams. Their hobbies should be something that interests them, which could later become their passion. Baking/cooking Art Singing Dancing Stamp collecting Knitting First aid Design technology Sewing

Community Project The community project will encourage children to develop an interest in their school and wider community by designing and delivering a project that will improve their community. It will enable them to take responsibility for their community and understand their roles within it. The project will help them develop a sense of belonging as well as promoting teamwork amongst their friends. School working party Sponsored activity Help out at school events Carol concerts Reading with younger children Volunteer at a local charity Help a neighbour

Eco Project It’s more important than ever to ensure we are looking after our environment. The local wildlife needs our help to ensure it’s survival. The children’s chosen project will help them develop an understanding of their roles and responsibility . Through their project they will help the environment and the wildlife living within it flourish. Working party to regenerate a local area Bird watching morning Construct a bug hotel Plant trees/plants/shrubs Litter pick Maintain a waterway Monitor school energy outputs Monitor school wastage
