Intro During this presentation, differentiated instruction will be discussed. The differentiated strategies that support diverse and multicultural adult learners will be captured. Examples or scenarios of differentiated instruction will be highlighted. Activities that show the use of differentiated instruction will be displayed.

What is differentiated instruction? Differentiated instruction is an instructional theory that allows teachers to face this challenge by taking diverse student factors into account when planning and delivering instruction. Based on this theory, teachers can structure learning environments that address the variety of learning styules, interests, and abilities found within a classroom ("Study.com", 2015).

Strategies Content Process Products Learning Environment Differentiating instruction may mean teaching the same material to all students using a variety of instructional strategies, or it may require the teacher to deliver lessons at varying levels of difficulty based on the ability of each student. Formative assessment is an essential ingredient of this method (Weselby, 2014). Differentiated instruction is based upon the belief that students learn best when they make connections between the curriculum and their diverse interests and experiences. The greatest learning occurs when students are pushed beyond the point where they can work without assistants. Content-this is what the student needs to learn or how the student will obtain access to the information Process-these are activities in which the student engages him/her self to make sense of or “master” the content Products-projects that ask the student to demonstrate what he or she has learned from the class Learning environment-this is the way a classroom is set up

Scenarios Some scenarios with differentiated instruction can be to accommodating to different students’ cultures. When instructors appreciate the similarities and differences, this makes students more engaged during their course of study. They can build relationships with students by adding a personal story with them and identifying cultural differences in a positive manner.

Some differentiating activities include reading a story and changing the outcome, matching vocabulary words to their definitions, creating visuals (such as this PowerPoint), Prezi, Matrix, etc., creating and defining the difference between fact and fiction within a story.

Conclusion During this presentation, differentiated instruction was discussed. The differentiated strategies that support diverse and multicultural adult learners was captured. Examples or scenarios of differentiated instruction was highlighted. Activities that show the use of differentiated instruction was displayed.
